Your Own Version

Sometimes the best way to understand something is to build your own version of it.

And along the way…

You might find you like your own version better.

You might like its simplicity.

You might like being able to fix it when something goes wrong.

You might find it was easier than you thought.

You might find the problem is simpler than you thought.

You might find the popular version is only complex because it tries to please thousands of other users.

You might find much of the popular version’s complexity is peripheral to the actual problem.

You might find you have to do a lot of busy work just to keep the popular version working.

You might find you can avoid an entire ecosystem just by making your own.

And you might realize that it’s worth it.
